Spend the Summer at Junior Ranger Day Camp, Ages 8-11, An unforgettable outdoor experience for your child

Locations in Inwood Hill Park (Northern Manhattan), Marine Park (Brooklyn), Crotona Park (Bronx) & Blue Heron Park (Staten Island)

Imagine your child paddling a canoe in quiet blue waters edged with bright green marsh grass, exploring nature from a whole new perspective. Junior Rangers are immersed in a natural setting, participating in fun and educational activities and games. As a Junior Ranger, your child will canoe, fish, learn to use a map and compass, observe wildlife, and even camp out in the park! This low-cost opportunity continues to be extremely popular around the City, so get your application in today.


Camp Schedule

Week 1: Ecology
Week 2: Fish, Reptiles, and Amphibians
Week 3: Plants and Trees
Week 4: Explorers, Maps, and Compasses
Week 5: Native American Pathways
Week 6: Birds and Raptors
Week 7: Insects and Invertebrates
Week 8: Outdoor Survival
Add an overnight camp-out option (includes BBQ, night hike, and more) for an additional cost (overnight camp-out cost: $10*). Activities and days of the week they are held may vary.

Application requirements:
Completed Junior Ranger applications MUST have the following information or they cannot be processed. The applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited openings are available. *Please note: There is limited availability for all weeks at the Junior Ranger Camp sites. Please call (212) 360-2776 for specific information.

  1. Junior Ranger Registration Form
  2. Check or money order made out to NYC Parks & Recreation to cover costs. (Due at registration. Remember to put name of camper and camp dates in memo section of check.)
  3. Proof of scholarship eligibility, if applicable.
  4. Medical form (must be signed by parent/guardian AND physician; every line must be filled out; must include TB test).
  5. Proof of ACS voucher eligibility (visit http://newyork.earnbenefits.org/page.php?pageID=115)
  6. Right to Use Photographic Likeness Form
  7. Code of Conduct/Consent Form
  8. Two photos (2” x 2” passport/school photo type)( Photos will not be returned)

Costs:

$65* per week for Regular Hours (9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). Includes lunch. 1 week minimum.
$10* per week for Extended Hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Add-On Camp-Out: $10* additional. Camp-out dates: July 9, July 23, August 13.

* ½-price scholarships available for children whose parents/guardians can provide proof of one of the following. A photocopy of scholarship paperwork must be included with the application.

  • Participation in SSI program
  • Participation in Medicaid program
  • Participation in public assistance program
  • Participation in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program
  • Participation in food stamps program
  • Participation in foster child program
  • Other forms of proof of income eligibility
