Education Programs

Computer Resource Centers

Parks' Computer Resource Centers offer low-cost computer access and instruction to New Yorkers of all ages. They are working to bridge the digital divide by bringing technology, career services and academic and arts programs into all communities throughout New York City.

Environmental Education

Hands-on programs such as Youth Environmental & Science Society allow children from our recreation centers to go on field trips to various nature preserves and forests, while learning about horticulture, fishing, fish identification, water and environmental studies, microscopy and chemistry.

Horticultural Training Initiative

Parks would like to begin an internship program to expose high school students to hands-on horticulture training in New York City parks. A paid summer internship would provide a solid foundation in the principles and practice of botany, soil science, plant identification and maintenance, as well as site preparation and analysis. Fifty interns would learn directly from Parks' gardeners and would work throughout each borough.
