Funding: This project is funded by Council Member Helen Marshall, with a total budget of $196,000.

Lcoation: The project is located at Van Doren Street, 108th Street and Westside Avenue. It is within Council District #21 and Community Board #4

Site Background: This site is being developed through Parks' Greenstreetprogram. Launched in 1996 by Commissioner Stern, Greenstreets is a citywide program to convert paved, unused traffic islands, into green spaces filled with shade trees, flowering trees, shrubs and ground cover. It is City DOT property but after its beautification and greening the site will be maintained by Parks & Recreation.

Estimated Construction Start: Spring, 2002, with a contract duration of 150 days

PARK DESIGN The rehab of this existing greenstreet will allow for the creation of a passive sitting area and installation of a flagpole with memorial base. This memorial is intended to remember 10 Veterans from the Corona area and will be completed in time for Veterans Day 2002. Below is the dedication language that will be included on a bronze ring incorporated into the memorial base.
