New Year, New You

Are you looking to get fit and be healthier in 2012 but don’t know where to begin? Join Shape Up NYC’s free New Year, New You eight-week fitness challenge.
This eight-week challenge will run from the week of January 9 to the week of March 2, and will include 3 weigh-ins along the way to help you meet your goals of losing weight and getting fitter in the New Year. Throughout the challenge, you'll be encouraged to attend free Shape Up classes and you will be given the opportunity to learn about fitness, nutrition and disease prevention. Challengers will celebrate their success in March–just in time for spring and summer.
About Shape Up NYC
Shape Up NYC is a free fitness program, brought to you by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Service, Equinox, and Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. Classes are led by trained fitness instructors and include step aerobics, walking and stretching, cardio kickboxing, yoga, and weight training. Instructors also encourage the development of healthy lifestyles by showing participants easy and fun ways to prepare healthy snacks and meals. This is a great way to learn healthy new habits that can last a lifetime.
Kick-off Event Locations
Kick-off events will be held at centers where Shape Up staff will be on hand to perform fitness assessments and distribute information on nutrition and healthy eating.
