Daniel Avila was born and raised in Queens, NY. He graduated from SUNY Albany in 2000 and has since freelanced for the Troy Record, Albany Times Union, and Newsday. He began photographing for Parks in November 2005. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, skiing, hiking and is a volunteer EMT.
