The Bethesda Terrace Arcade, the richly decorated underground component of Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace, reopened on March 2 after a $7 million restoration by the Central Park Conservancy. The main focus of the restoration was the preservation and reinstallation of the Arcade’s treasured Minton tile ceiling. The majority of the nearly 16,0000 tiles had been in storage for more than 20 years. Parks photographer Daniel Avila got an early look at the restored arcade.
