Parks cut the ribbon on newly renovated tennis courts at Astoria Park thanks to the American Express/USTA "Fresh Courts" program with tennis legend Chris Evert, pro tennis player Victoria Azarenka, USTA Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer Gordon Smith, American Express Vice President for Global Sponsorships and Access Alex Chang, and Council Member Peter Vallone, along with young tennis players. Improvements including acrylic crack repair, added blended lines, and the conversion of one 78-foot court into two 36-foot courts will increase space for future tennis programs and give kids the chance to play in a safe, maintained enviroment.
