Wolfe's Pond was once a tidal inlet. Over time, the action of wind and waves pushed sand and clay into the mouth of the inlet, damming it and forming a pond.

Beaches
Parks maintains 14 miles of beaches, all of which are open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Hours
During beach season, lifeguards are on duty daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections. Closed sections are marked with signs and/or red flags.

Accessible Notes: There are two informal ramps that can be used for wheelchair access.
Directions: BUS: #78 to Tottenville and get out at Cornelia and Highland Blvd and walk up Cornelia
SUBWAY: Get on Staten Island Transit and take it to the Hugenot Avenue stop and then walk down toward Highland Boulevard.
PARKING: Free parking lot
