The current Washington Square Park arch was built between 1890 and 1892 to replace a wooden arch that was created to commemorate the centennial of Washington's inauguration in 1889.

Now in its sixth season, Park-Lit is an outdoor summer reading series sponsored by Open City, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

Today we'll feature readings from the new Mr. Beller's Neighborhood anthology, Lost and Found: Stories from New York. The readers will be Jonathan Ames, Thomas Beller, Rachel Cline, and Thomas R. Ziegler.
