Important Winter Storm-Related Service Changes

New York City parks are now open. We continue to urge caution in parks under wintry conditions: parks paths can be slippery, snow cover can cover frozen lakes and bodies of water, and branches may have fallen. If you see a fallen branch call 311.

Some recreation centers will open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today with limited staffing.

Winter Constellations and Stargazing

Sunday, January 20, 2013

5:30 p.m.6:30 p.m.

Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Search options on the right to find upcoming events.

Winter’s relatively long nights provide ample opportunity to stare into the sky and see stars. View a PowerPoint presentation designed to hone your stargazing skills as you learn to recognize the constellations of winter. Afterwards, weather permitting, we will gaze into the night sky on the lawn in front of the nature center to see which stars, and perhaps even constellations, we can find.  Free program. Registration required.
