Registration for the Starlight 5k Canoe Challenge is now open. Help us raise vital funds to make canoeing on the river available to over 1,000 youth and their families this season. Help us reach our $20,000 goal by signing up to participate today! You’ll have a ton of fun while supporting a great cause.
We can only accommodate 10 teams, so pull together your family, friends and colleagues and register today! You’ll challenge yourself, have a great time, and provide vital support to enable hundreds of kids to discover the Bronx River this year.
Full schedule of the day's events:
- 11:00 - 12:45: Starlight 5k Canoe Challenge
- 12:45 - 1:30: Award Ceremony & Starlight Park Celebration
- 1:30 - 3:45: Music, art, fishing demonstrations, free bike loan-outs, and public paddling, including free short community paddles, intermediate paddles to Concrete Plant Park, and a round-trip paddle to the Soundview Salt Marsh Restoration Project (you must register for the Restoration Tour below. Tickets available April 10, 2013)
Paddled the Flotilla before? Please note that this year’s event will be different. Construction of a fish passage will be underway at the southernmost dam on the river at 182nd St, marking the latest milestone in the restoration of the river. While we celebrate this progress, it means that a full river paddle is not possible. Besides the team canoe challenge, there will be plenty of opportunities to get out on the river at the 2013 Flotilla!
