PARK FACT:
The Meadow-25 acres of switchgrass, sesame grass, and bayberry shrubs just off Orchard Beach-is reminiscent of a mid-western prairie. The site was "created" by accident when topsoil was removed during the 1930s beach construction.

Under Construction
The bridle path is under construction. We are resurfacing the existing bridle path with an equestrian-friendly soil mixture. Enhancements to the path and adjacent areas will include grading, native plantings, pruning and decompaction. Additional work will include vegetative screening and chain link fencing to shield both riders and horses from the vehicular traffic on Interstate 95. The intersections at Shore Road will be reconstructed to provide horse and rider better warning that they are approaching a high-speed roadway.
Anticipated Completion: Fall 2009
