Important Winter Storm-Related Service Changes

New York City parks are now open. We continue to urge caution in parks under wintry conditions: parks paths can be slippery, snow cover can cover frozen lakes and bodies of water, and branches may have fallen. If you see a fallen branch call 311.

Some recreation centers will open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today with limited staffing.

Cornelia Horsford: Early Preservationist in America’s Golden Age of Gardens

Cultural landscape historian Mac Griswold discusses the life and work of early house and garden preservationist Cornelia Horsford and the history of her family’s centuries-old home on Shelter Island, Sylvester Manor. Griswold is the author most recently of The Manor: Three Centuries at a Slave Plantation on Long island as well as The Golden Age of American Gardens. She is the Director of Archival Research for the Sylvester Manor Project. Book signing after the talk.
