The park's John Malone Community Center is named after a local leader and baseball player who signed with the New York Giants in 1953. Unfortunately, after participating in spring training camp, he sustained injuries that ended his baseball career.

With five baseball fields, one artificial turf field for football, a roller hockey rink, a beach volleyball court and three tennis courts, this park located in South East Brooklyn is a sports lover’s paradise.

In the summer, softball and baseball fans swarm the park and cheer on their favorite team from the bleachers. The John Malone Community Center, run by the Bergen Beach Youth Organization and The Millennium Development Corporation, keeps the park active even in the cold months of the winter. Both young and young-at-heart can take advantage of the center’s community programming.
