Fresh Creek Nature Preserve: Planting Native Plugs

Volunteer with Natural Areas Volunteers (NAV) at Fresh Creek Nature Preserve to plant grasses native to the area.

This work will help to protect and restore the area.

Volunteers will be trained in planting techniques. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and clothing that can get dirty.

Registration is required for this event. Please meet your NAV Tech Lead at the location provided.

BeachesRockaway Beach and Boardwalk

NYC beach season has been extended through September 13. After Labor Day, beaches will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At Rockaway Beach, the following locations will remain open for swimming: Beach 15 to Beach 18; Beach 29 and Beach 30; Beach 58 and Beach 59; Beach 77 and Beach 78; Beach 84 and Beach 85; Beach 96 through Beach 98; Beach 104 through Beach 106; Beach 115 through Beach 120; Beach 126 through Beach 131; and, Beach 136 through Beach 143. We may adjust swimming beaches on a daily basis due to site and surf conditions, so please observe all posted signs and flags and swim only where a lifeguard is present.
