Saturday, December 18, 2010

10:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.

Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Browse and Search options on the right to find upcoming events.

The Hubble Space Telescope has profoundly impacted our understanding of the universe. We'll look at the amazing discoveries and see the Universe in a whole new light. We’ll learn how Hubble can see all the nearby planets close up, and how it sees distant stars being born, and others exploding in colossal supernovae. We’ll also see how Hubble helped show that not only is our Universe is expanding, but that it’s powered by mysterious Dark Energy. We'll also show a quick planetarium show, and we'll see what's up in our night sky.

All NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador events are free, open to the public and family-friendly and suitable for ages 12 and up. There will also be free NASA handouts, posters and lithographs for everyone who attends.

If this program whets your appetitie to try some nighttime planet gazing, don't miss the Saturday evening Inwood Astronomy Programs . We provide telescopes for your use.
