Brooklyn-based cellist and vocalist Marika Hughes grabs tradition by its head, reshaping the landscape of genre and sound. Her cello stylings are reminiscent of her classical upbringing yet defy expectation as she moves us with her supple vocals through jazz, funk, rock, and back again, surprising us along the way. Marika has performed and recorded with a vast array of chamber musicians, avant-garde improvisers, singer-songwriters, and pop icons.
