 Beaches

New York City beach season has ended. Beaches re-open in 2013 on Memorial Day.

Parks maintains 14 miles of beaches, all of which are open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Hours

During beach season, lifeguards are on duty daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections. Closed sections are marked with signs and/or red flags.

Directions:

BUS: S76, S86 to Oakwood Beach, stopping at Ebbitts Street and Cedar Grove Avenue
SUBWAY: Take the Staten Island Railway to the New Dorp station and transfer to the S76 bus to Oakwood Beach (see above)

PARKING: Free parking lot

All NYC beaches will be open for swimming on Saturday, May 25. Due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, and the major rebuilding effort at our beaches, there may be multiple service changes at each beach. Visit our Beach Restoration page for more information on what to expect this summer.
