Freshkills Park Birding Hike
Sunday, May 25, 2014
10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Join us as we search for the birds of Freshkills Park along the site's wetlands, creeks and meadows. Naturalists from the Staten Island Museum will be on hand to talk about habitats, and guide us in identifying the animals that appear on the site. This is a perfect trip to learn a little more about Freshkills Park, and a lot more about our natural ecology and animal residents! The tour will get you stretching your legs as we search the landscape for the wildlife which is returning to Staten Island. This event is free, but space is limited, please sign up for this tour on the Freshkills Park Events Page. Email email@example.com with questions.
Hiking programs feature intensity levels ranging from light (a leisurely stroll on mostly paved paths), moderate (longer, faster paced hikes on rugged terrain), to vigorous (long distance, with hills and rugged terrain). This moderate hike includes elevations with gravel and dirt terrain. For all hiking programs we recommend wearing comfortable shoes or boots, and packing water, sunscreen, bugspray, and a light snack.
The tour will depart from the Eltingville Transit Area Park and Ride Lot.
