Summer Arts Series In Forest Park

IMMEDIATE

The Summer Arts Series presented by JP Morgan Chase provides four free concerts at different playground locations in Forest Park every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. during the month of July.

“This event brings together everything that is great about summer in the parks — the outdoors, playgrounds and free entertainment,” said Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski.

The music series kicked off on July 8, at Sobelsohn Playground with Greg Wilder and the Virgil Scott Orchestra. It will be followed next Tuesday, July 15, by The Bond Street Players Stilt Walking Band in Dry Harbor Playground at 80th Street and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale. The following Tuesday, July 22, the event moves to Mary Whalen Playground at 79th Street and Park Lane South in Woodhaven with Taikoza — interactive Japanese drumming fun. Finishing out the series on July 29th, a bi-lingual Wizard of Oz will be performed by Jurukan at Jackson Pond Playground, Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South.

The concerts are made possible by a generous donation from JP Morgan Chase and are free to the public.
