Spring Fling: A Celebration of Spring's Traditions
Saturday, April 20, 2013
1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
Join the Wyckoff Farmhouse as we bid adieu to winter and welcome the arrival of spring with a celebration of traditional treats, dancing, storytelling, crafts and games. Get out your dancing shoes and learn traditional English country and contra dances with renowned caller, Tom Amesse. Be enchanted by celebrated storyteller, Robin Bady as she recounts traditional folklore and tales around the outdoor fire pit. Grab a ribbon and dance around the maypole; try your hand at colonial and carnival games including 9 pins, ring toss and horse shoes. Paint your own flower pot and plant a seedling to take home; fashion a hand-made pinwheel to test the wind. Get in the spirit of spring and design your own bubble wand and eco-friendly bubbles to blow in the breeze. In celebration of Earth Day our friends from Sustainable Flatbush will demonstrate their solar hydroponic garden system coming to the Wyckoff garden this summer. Snack on traditional treats and springtime snacks cooked around the fire pit. Round out the day with a tour of New York City's oldest house. Fun for all ages.
