Important Winter Storm-Related Service Changes

New York City parks are now open. We continue to urge caution in parks under wintry conditions: parks paths can be slippery, snow cover can cover frozen lakes and bodies of water, and branches may have fallen. If you see a fallen branch call 311.

Some recreation centers will open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today with limited staffing.

In partnership with Emmy award-winning PBS series Independent Lens, Arts, Culture & Fun presents The Island President.

President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives is a man with a bigger problem than other world leader has ever faced – the literal survival of his country and everyone in it.  After bringing democracy to the Maldives, he must now ensure that his tiny country doesn’t disappear under rising sea-levels brought about by climate change.

Jon Shenk's film The Island President compellingly illustrates the perils of climate change.  An audience discussion will follow the screening.  Please RSVP with your name and number of guests.
