Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Chile Pepper Festival
Saturday, October 5, 2013
11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
The Chile Pepper Festival will offer a day full of fiery live music and dance performances, gastronomic treats, and activities inspired by the wide range of cultures all over the world that grow and use the chile.
Circus masters Robbins and Ringold will be the flame-throwing masters of ceremonies for the diverse musical acts on the Garden’s Cherry Esplanade. The New York Chinese Cultural Center will showcase traditional red ribbon dances performed by Dance China NY. Stooges Brass Band will amp up the festival with their award-winning blend of traditional New Orleans brass band music laced with funk and hip-hop. Virginia’s Bio Ritmo will perform their alternative salsa and the Afro-Brazilian beats of Dendê Macêdo & Band will heat up the festival.
The Osborne Garden will feature Feel the Burn. Alongside these vendors will be over a dozen confectioners and chocolatiers presenting a spicy take on their sweets. Many will offer blends created especially for the Chile Pepper Festival
