Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Search options on the right to find upcoming events.

Visit Van Cortlandt House on December 8th to see the the festive traditional holiday decorations at our annual Christmas in the Colonies event.   For this one special evening, Van Corltandt House will be carefully lit by candlelight as you are led through on a guided tour.  You won't see a Christmas tree but you will see how Colonial-era New Yorkers such as the Van Cortlands celebrated winter holidays such as Saint Nicholas Day, New Year's, and Twelfth Night.  You'll also learn what a sugar plum was and why we hang stocking from the chimney each Christmas eve.

Following your tour, weather permitting, you can enjoy a cup of hot mulled cider and toast marshmallows by our roaring campfire.  Refreshments will be available even if we're forced inside.  Guided tours are scheduled for 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 p.m.

We limit the number of people per tour so we STRONGLY urge you to make reservations.  For more information or to book a tour, please call 718-543-3344 or e-mail with your prefered tour time to:  info@vchm.org.
