Fall 2012 Wangari Maathai Volunteer Planting Event

Every planting season, MillionTreesNYC engages enthusiastic, energetic, and environmentally–minded New Yorkers in volunteer tree planting activities.

Join MillionTreesNYC and fellow volunteers to make New York City greener and greater, by volunteering to help plant 20,000 trees at parks citywide in honor of late environmental activist and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai!

Registration is required for this event. Please register as an INDIVIDUAL or GROUP LEADER (if you are planning on inviting a group) for one of the following city park planting sites, where volunteers will be helping to create healthy new forests.

Trees, gloves, and tools will be provided as well as lunch and a giveaway item.

Know Before You Go

ParkVan Cortlandt Park

The comfort station and maintenance building located at W. 242nd St. and Broadway is closed. This project will reconstruct the existing District Headquarters/Comfort Station, including the rehabilitation of the building exterior and roof. Enhancements include an ADA accessible ramp, new plumbing fixtures and accessories in the public restrooms and the staff restroom. Other work includes the upgrading of the ventilation system and lighting. Please pardon our appearance.
Anticipated Completion: Fall 2012
