Reforestation Stewardship: Van Cortlandt House Museum in Van Cortlandt Park

Natural Areas Volunteers is looking for dedicated volunteers to help weed and monitor new tree plantings in Van Cortlandt Park. Volunteer stewards will be trained in invasive weed identification and removal techniques.

Stewards must attend 3 training sessions and commit to volunteer 12 hours over the summer in weeding reforestation sites.

New Reforestation Stewardship volunteers will need to attend the indoor session on May 31 and two work days in Van Cortlandt Park on June 9 and August 18 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Know Before You Go

ParkVan Cortlandt Park

The comfort station and maintenance building located at W. 242nd St. and Broadway is closed. This project will reconstruct the existing District Headquarters/Comfort Station, including the rehabilitation of the building exterior and roof. Enhancements include an ADA accessible ramp, new plumbing fixtures and accessories in the public restrooms and the staff restroom. Other work includes the upgrading of the ventilation system and lighting. Please pardon our appearance.
Anticipated Completion: Fall 2012
