The Split Rock/Split Rock Trail
The Split Rock, located at the Hutchinson River Parkway's intersection with the New England Thruway, broke in half about 10,000 years ago when glacial movements pushed it from a higher place. Legend persists that Anne Hutchinson was killed here while trying to hide from attacking Indians in the rock's crevice. Such large boulders were significant sites for Native Americans for ceremonial rites and celebrations.
