Glover's Rock
Glover's Rock has a plaque commemorat-ing a pivotal skirmish during the Revolutionary War -- the Battle of Pell's Point. In October 1776, British forces attempted to cut off General George Washington's escape route from Manhattan. The plan was to set ashore on today's Rodman's Neck. march across the mainland, and ambush the Continental Army near the King's Bridge. Luckily, Colonel John Glover and his men met the redcoats at the onset and inflicted many casualties, allowing Washington to reach White Plains where sup-plies and an important victory awaited his army.
