Lower Manhattan Redevelopment
Pearl Street Playground
West Side of Pearl Street between Fulton and Beekman Streets
The reconstruction of Pearl Street Playground will consist of new play equipment for pre–teens and tots, a new safety surface, site furnishings, steel fences, a spray shower, drinking fountain, drainage and water supply, new pavements, and plantings. The closing of “Little Pearl Street,” adjacent to St. Margaret’s Home, and the new curb alignment of Fulton Street allows the playground to enter into the sight lines of the Titanic Memorial and South Street Seaport Historic District. The open space will be expanded onto the street bed, linking the Beekman Pedestrian Street to the Pearl Street pedestrian corridor.
Project Status: Scheduled to begin in Spring 2010.
