Fort Washington Park

PlaNYC Project Overview

Located along the Hudson River, Fort Washington Park offers spectacular views of the New Jersey Palisades and the George Washington Bridge. This 160-acre ribbon of dramatic cliffs, meadows, and wooded areas was built in sections. The Little Red Lighthouse is located at the center of park. The existing configuration was laid out by Robert Moses during the construction of the Henry Hudson Parkway, which travels through the park's eastern edge.

Dyckman Street Ramp and Inwood Hill Park: Summer 2012–Fall 2013

Inwood Hill Park entrance and greenway enhancement
New ADA ramp connection between the Henry Hudson Parkway and Dyckman Street

Mid-Park Cluster South & North: Spring 2012–Fall 2013
New playground, a portion of greenway path and five volleyball courts.

Amtrak Bridge: TBD
Rehabilitation of bridge/access point at 180th Street over Amtrak line to welcome park users to the central part of the park and the Little Red Lighthouse

Project Updates

Summer 2012

Designs for the different sections of the park have been completed. Construction began in June 2012.
