Parks Issues Request For Proposals For Specialty Food Units At Parks Across The City

Parks & Recreation announces that a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) has been issued for the sale of specialty food from mobile food units at various locations citywide.

“New York City parks are as diverse as the people who use them, and we are continuing to expand our culinary offerings to reflect the varied palates of our visitors,” said Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe. “Through this new RFP, we are seeking proposals for specialty food carts that will offer visitors high quality and affordable epicurean delights, encouraging them to spend even more time enjoying the city’s parks.”

Since 2008, the Parks Department has worked to attract an array of high quality, healthy, diverse and affordable food vendors to whet New York City’s diverse palate. Parks envisions specialty mobile food units that give patrons places to stop and enjoy the scenery, while enjoying top quality food. Parks will view favorably menus that are inventive and interesting, serve a variety of options beyond hot dogs and pretzels, and that include healthy food choices. This RFP designates 30 potential locations for mobile food units throughout the city.

All proposals must be submitted to Parks & Recreation, Revenue Division by no later than Monday, March 5, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.

Hard copies of the RFP can be obtained, at no cost, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays, at the Revenue division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, which is located at The Arsenal, 830 Fifth Avenue, Room 407, New York, NY 10065.

To request to receive a copy of the RFP by mail, prospective proposers may contact the Revenue Division at (212) 360-3407. The RFP is also available for download through Monday, March 5, 2012 from the Parks & Recreation website.
