Ocean Breeze Park Administrator Appointed
We are pleased to announce that Lauren Primerano has been selected as the new Ocean Breeze Park Administrator.
In her new role, Lauren will oversee the operation and management of Ocean Breeze Park on Staten Island. This park includes a 135,000 square foot track & field athletic complex that is currently under construction. The complex will feature an Olympic-quality Mondo track with seating for 2,500 spectators as well as two fitness rooms for cardio and strength training.
Lauren began her career with NYC Parks in 2012 as the inaugural Center Manager at the McCarren Play Center in Brooklyn, when it reopened in June 2012. In addition to her time at McCarren, Lauren has served as the Center Manager at both the Alfred E. Smith Recreation Center in Manhattan and the Greenbelt Recreation Center in Staten Island. Prior to joining NYC Parks, Lauren served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Facilities at Hunter College; an Operations Manager at both the Chelsea Piers Sports Center and Aviator Sports and Fitness Center; and an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Manhattan College.
She is a founding member and current President of USA Track & Field New York, a not for profit group formed in 2011 to advocate for Track and Field programming and education throughout the NYC metropolitan area. In addition, Lauren has served as the meet director for the USA Track & Field East Regional Championships and the USA Track & Field Club National Championships for multiple years. In 2013, Lauren also served on the Disabled Athletes Task Force that was formed by USA Track & Field to look at the needs and services being provided through adaptive sports. She has also been a consultant for the Randall’s Island Park Alliance, where she works with management staff to produce events at Icahn Stadium.
Lauren received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Education from Manhattan College and is working towards her Masters in Recreation and Parks Supervision at Lehman College. She currently resides in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
