Pitching In For A Coastal Cleanup

On September 15, the Bronx River Alliance, Friends of Soundview Park, REI, Futuro Media & Partnerships for Parks worked to improve the health of the Long Island Sound and remove waterfront debris.

The Soundview Park clean up was part of International Coastal Cleanup Day - a global day of environmental stewardship – and was also a special celebration to recognize the Bronx River as a National Water Trail. The Coastal Clean Up in the Bronx removed debris along the waterfront where the Bronx River flows into the Long Island Sound.

Parks Commissioner Veronica White and First Deputy Commissioner Liam Kavanagh joined Executive Director of the Bronx River Alliance Linda Cox in working with our community volunteers and lending a helping hand! Trash bags and gloves were provided

The event also featured a guided tour of the Salt Marsh construction project and a fishing demonstration by IFISH.

QUOTATION OF THE DAY

“The body is a sacred garment.”
