Parks Appoints New Assistant Commissioner For Operations

Please join us in welcoming Russ Antonucci, our new Assistant Commissioner for Operations.

Working directly under Commissioner Kavanagh, Russ will oversee our work with consultant partners, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, to analyze how we manage staff resources and develop a workforce model as part of a key agency-wide initiative we’re calling “Parks Operations for the 21st Century” or OPS 21. Russ will also work closely with senior management to focus on improving operations and maintenance strategies through continued development of AMPS, and sharing of both industry and agency best practices to improve service delivery to the public.

A graduate of the University at Albany, Russ went on to earn his J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University. Russ has over eleven years of experience as a business and technology consultant, focusing on workforce development and process improvements. After over eight years at Accenture, an operations consulting firm, Russ started and ran an active outdoor travel company guiding bicycle and hiking tours of the east end of Long Island. Russ’ most recent job was as a stay at home dad, a job which included (and still does) many hours at playgrounds and parks around the five boroughs.

An avid runner, cyclist and triathlete, Russ and his wife have logged thousands of miles running and biking in parks across the five boroughs. Russ lives with his wife and three children in Manhattan.

Please join us in welcoming Russ in his new role.
