This Weekend In Parks

Grow Our Grassroots!

Saturday, February 11, 2012
Brooklyn Borough Hall
9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

A summit for New Yorkers who care for street trees, love parks, nurture gardens, compost creatively and make New York greener and greater! Parks & Recreation has partnered with the Department of Environmental Protection, PlaNYC, MillionTreesNYC, New York Restoration Project, and NYC Service to offer a day-long summit to inspire New Yorkers to pitch in to help make NYC greener and greater.

Participants will be able to network with volunteers who are transforming the City through tree care, composting and stewardship, while sharing skills, receiving training, and getting a better understanding of how to access City resources.

Throughout the day workshops such as Tree Stewardship, Composting Workshop and Roundtable, Tree Watering 101, and Community Organizing will be offered to connect, empower and build a network of committed green New Yorkers.

This event is open to the public, but registration is required. If you are interested in attending as a registrant, please email stewards@milliontreesnyc.org.

GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK

Protect Plants from Frost – Protect your plants from a freeze by wrapping them securely in a plastic bag overnight and removing the bag in the morning.
