Stay Cool at the Pool

From June 29 through Labor Day, enjoy outdoor pool season. With 54 outdoor pools throughout the boroughs, there’s always a chance to cool off and get fit. General hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Hit the Beach

Our 14 miles of beaches are open for summer fun! Memorial Day through Labor Day, lifeguards are on duty daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Just remember: Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections. Closed sections are marked with signs and/or red flags.

This summer, the Department of Transportation will be sponsoring events, including music performances, classes, and arts and crafts, on NYC's sidewalks in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs.

Summer Streets

On three consecutive Saturdays in August, Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park close down to vehicular traffic and open up to bicyclists and pedestrians.
