Reach 4: Drew Gardens

In this section the Bronx River flows past the community run Drew Gardens. Restoration work along this section of the Bronx River has included clearing and grubbing the in-stream bar and replanting the bar with native riparian vegetation. Unfortunately, native plant revegetation efforts have had limited success, partly as a result of the brackish (salty) conditions and partly due to limited invasive plant control follow-up. Future invasive plant control and native revegetation projects are planned here using alternative techniques.
