Owen Dolen Recreation Center

Membership Information | Holiday Schedule

The Recreation Center is currently closed for reconstruction. This project will reconstruct Owen Dolen Park to include a more defined plaza area and enhanced green spaces. Sidewalks, paths, fencing, stairs, and lighting will be improved. The spire at the upper terrace will be removed to open site lines into the park. Members are invited to enjoy any of our other 34 centers until improvements are completed.

This is an Accessible Recreation Center.

Since 1910, the Department of Parks & Recreation has provided the most affordable and extensive network of recreational services throughout New York City. Our recreation centers offer facilities such as indoor pools, weight rooms, basketball courts, and dance studios, art studios, game rooms, and libraries. All of our recreation centers offer a range of programs for people of all ages.

Hours of Operation

Due to ongoing construction at the park, the center is closed as of April 2, 2012 until further notice. Members of Owen Dolen Recreation Center are welcome to use any center, with or without an indoor pool. The nearest center is Hunts Point Recreation Center, located at 765 Manida Street, between Spofford and Lafayette Avenues. Please visit our Recreation Center page for a list of other locations.

For Shape Up NYC classes, please visit our classes at Hunts Point Recreation Center, Pelham Senior Center, St. James Recreation Center, St. Mary’s Recreation Center or any of our other Shape Up NYC locations. Please visit the Shape Up NYC page on our website for class times and locations.
For Parks Afterschool, the program will be held at Hunts Point Recreation Center. Please call (718) 430-1847 with any questions.
For Martial Arts Programs, please visit the karate program at Hunts Point Recreation Center. Classes are for children and teens Wednesday 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Holidays

On holidays (New Year's Day and Eve, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Easter, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Eve, and Christmas Day and Eve), recreation center hours will change.
