Recreation Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. The Flushing Meadows Pool and Rink will be open for regular hours on Monday, February 20, 2012.

Advanced Beginner Swim
January 10, 2012 – March 13, 2012
Participants must be comfortable in deep water. This class will help you improve your freestyle and backstrokes, and will introduce the breast stroke, butterfly stroke, and side stroke. In addition, the class will include water safety skills such as treading water, underwater swimming, and diving. |

Aqua Exercise

Join this water workout for both swimmers and non-swimmers that uses equipment and music. Aqua exercise improves aerobic condition, muscle strength, range of motion and maybe even your sense of humor. Participants are encouraged to work out at their own pace. |

Beginner Swim

No previous experience is needed for this class, which will cover the basics of the freestyle and back strokes, as well as floating, treading water and water safety skills. Most of the class will be held in the shallow area of the pool. Each student is encouraged to progress at their own pace. |

Masters Swim is a high intensity, competitive swim workout. To join, the you will need to be able to swim continuous laps and have a basic level of technique in freestyle and back strokes. Workouts consist of interval training, stroke and stroke drills and multi-distance swim sets. The total distance of workouts range from 2000 to 3500 yards. |

Swim Clinic

Participants must be comfortable in deep water and able to swim basic freestyle with a breathing pattern. The basics of the four competitive strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, will be introduced as well as starts, turns and interval training. Approximately two weeks will be spent on each stroke, and two weeks on turns and starts. |
