Hudson River Park (Pier 40)

A good launch for experienced paddlers wishing to explore the Upper Harbor. The public launch, operated by the Downtown Boathouse, is about 120 yards out on the south sid of the pier. NY Kayak Company and village Community Boathouse are based here. Car drop off is easy and there is paid parking on the pier.

Caution: Currents are strong at the pierhead line; 25-yard security zone around the holland tunnel ventilator shaft.
