Make Music NY with the Five Boro Story Project & Poe Park Visitor Center will bring together notable Bronx historians, writers, singers, and rappers to present Bronx anthems and true stories, "Back in the Day at Poe Park: A Bronx Storytelling and Music Festival".

Produced by the Five Boro Story Project, this event will occur on the summer solstice as part of Make Music New York, an annual public music extravaganza.

Starting with the story of when Edgar Allan Poe came to the Bronx in 1846, moving to true tales of Poe Park’s epic concerts in the 50’s and dance battles in the 80’s, to a reading of a romantic rendezvous in Poe’s cottage, to an incredible true account from a former caretaker of the cottage, “Back in the Day” will take you on a journey through the Bronx from Edgar Allan Poe's day to our day.

Stories will be interspersed with musical performances, including a musical rendition of Poe’s poem “Annabel Lee” and songs about the Bronx from local hip hop and R&B artists. The program will conclude with an open forum inviting people in the audience to come to the mic and share stories, memories, music, and reflections on the Bronx.
