Harriet Tubman Day Of Commemoration Wreath Laying Ceremony

On March 10, 1913, Harriet Tubman died of pneumonia at her Homestead in Auburn, New York; it is believed she was born in 1820 or 1821. She was buried with military honors at Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn, New York. On August 26, 2003, through the tireless efforts of BWLC, then Governor Pataki signed legislation for the Harriet Tubman Day of Commemoration to be celebrated every March 10 in New York State.
