Trails Festival: An Ultra-Running Event and Volunteer Opportunity
Saturday, December 7, 2013
8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m.
This is a great trail run for all abilities. There will be a 10K, 25K, and for the hearty, a 50K course – all in the beautiful Staten Island Greenbelt. The trails are tight and technical. As you climb (yes there are some killer climbs in Staten Island) you can see views of NYC and New Jersey. You can travel for miles and miles through the Greenbelt and forget that you’re in NYC. All trails are completely marked so all you need to worry about is running. Start time for 25 and 50K runners is 8:00 a.m.; start time for 10K runners is 10:00 a.m. There will be plenty of food, snacks, and energy drinks at several aid stations along the way. When you finish, there will be a huge party just for you!! (OK, for the other finishers as well.) This is one event you don’t want to miss! Register at http://www.onestoprace.com/search/event.aspx?id=17786.
A volunteer opportunity: Volunteers are needed to assist with setting up the event and handing out refreshments to runners. Meet at the Henry Kaufmann Camp Grounds, 1131 Manor Road. To volunteer for any of our events you must be age 14 and up/under 14 with an adult. If you are interested in volunteering, please RSVP by calling (718) 667-2165 ext 311 or emailing Jeanne.Paliswiat@parks.nyc.gov.
