Morningside Park is a shared neighborhood jewel that ties together the diverse communities of Harlem, Morningside Heights, and Manhattan Valley. There will be a discussion on the original 1873 design of the park and how subsequent designs changed to adapt to rapid changes in the urban landscape before the park was finally completed in 1895. Learn about the communities that lived near the park at that time and the many changes to those communities over time which continue to this day. Hear about decades of community involvement which has had such a profound effect on the shaping the preservation and revitalization of this scenic landmark. Organized and led by Brad Taylor from the Friends of Morningside Park.
