Important Winter Storm-Related Service Changes

New York City parks are now open. We continue to urge caution in parks under wintry conditions: parks paths can be slippery, snow cover can cover frozen lakes and bodies of water, and branches may have fallen. If you see a fallen branch call 311.

Some recreation centers will open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today with limited staffing.

Javaka Steptoe: Story teller/author/illustrator presents an interactive reading of Jimi Sounds Like A Rainbow, a story of the young Jimi Hendrix. A children's book written by Gary Golio.

Jimi Hendrix was many things: a superstar, a rebel, a hero, an innovator. But first, he was a boy named Jimmy who loved to draw and paint and listen to records. In this interactive story telling Javaka Steptoe chronicles Jimmy's creative journey from humble beginnings, to world renown electric Rock, Blues guitar legend Jimi Hendrix a groundbreaking performer whose music shook the very foundations of rock 'n' roll.
