Sunset on the Hudson: 15th Anniversary Gala Honoring Adrian Benepe
Wednesday, June 12, 2013
6:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
The Fort Tryon Park Trust will be celebrating its 15th year anniversary at its annual Sunset on the Hudson Gala and will be honoring Adrian Benepe and the founders of the Trust.
We will honor Adrian Benepe for his work over the last 25 years protecting and restoring New York City's natural landscape. He oversaw $3.9 billion in capital improvements to the park network, the largest investment in city parks since the 1930s. The world-class parks created and natural areas improved under his leadership helped transform New York City into a green oasis and raised the bar for city green spaces nationwide.
In 1998, Adrian initiated the endowment for the Fort Tryon Park Trust, which helped reinstate the majestic beauty the park first had when John D. Rockerfeller gifted it to the City of New York in 1935, and will preserve it for future generations. He enlisted help from key individuals including Joseph Pierson and the Rockefeller family, Greenacre Foundation, Edith Kean, David Gmach, Ruth Westheimer, Pierre De Vegh, Nicholas Quennell, Tom Kissinger, Jane Schachat and Stanley Michels, who will be honored at the Gala.
Cocktails will be held on the Stan Michels Promenade overlooking the Heather Garden, followed by dinner on the David Rockefeller Linden Terrace.
Tickets will be available for purchase at our website below.
