The Alliance for Downtown New York will hold its fifth annual Spring Community Day, in which hundreds of volunteers will gather to spruce up Wall Street Park and take part in family-friendly activities on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
The event will run from 10 a.m.-noon, during which volunteers can plant more than 300 annuals around the park, also known as Mannahatta Park, between Water and South streets. The planting is part of the Downtown Alliance’s year-round Going Green program, dedicated to building an environmentally sustainable Lower Manhattan.
The event’s lead sponsor is Consolidated Edison. Other sponsors and partners are: The FiDi Association, Whole Foods, Crumbs Bake Shop, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, Partnership for Parks, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, New York City Council Member Margaret Chin and Community Board 1.
