Join us for a mid-fall ‘Great Tree’ walk in Stapleton, Staten Island. Located on the hillside rich North Shore of Staten Island, this is one of the Island’s oldest and historic neighborhoods. PlaNYC’s MillionTreesNYC initiative ‘kicked-off’ in Stapleton to ensure this neighborhood would have many ‘great trees’ in the future. Growing within the neighborhood are many wonderful ‘great trees’ including a stand-out red mulberry, an ‘arboreal architectural’ gem red maple, and a 20-inch American holly, plus many others.
The walk will include a visit to Sobel Court Park, home to a venerable white oak and the site of a ongoing Parks' GreenApple Corps restoration project.
No reservations required - just show up at 1 p.m. for this wonderful opportunity to explore this unique part of NYC’s urban forest! Please call 718-390-2084 with any tour questions.
This site is reachable via the MTA Staten Island Railway to Stapleton station, walk one block west to the Park.
