Visit Historic Richmond Town, a living history village, to learn about food and food preparation over 300 years of New York history. Each day of the Festival features guided tours by a costumed interpreter of a range of kitchens from 1690–1860; an exhibit on “hidden food history”; and demonstrations of trades and activities centered around food production. Highlights include: game stew prepared on an open fire (Friday); the blacksmith at work making kitchenware using tools from the 1800s (Saturday); and authentic Dutch “kool slau” prepared in the 1740s kitchen. There’s something for everyone at Historic Richmond Town!
