Join us this fall for Mad. Sq. Music: The Studio Series presented by The Baisley Powell Elebash Fund. Enjoy free folk, blues and Americana concerts set against the fall foliage of Madison Square Park. The intimate atmosphere of The Studio Series creates a space for musicians to share the tradition of their craft and showcase the diverse forms these celebrated musical genres can take.

Mad. Sq. Music: The Studio Series takes place at the southern end of Madison Square Park. Some seating at café tables is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anais Mitchell’s musical influences span from the Carter Family to Brecht and Weill to Randy Newman, and are displayed in her new release, Hadestown. With the participation of Bon Iver, Ani DiFranco, The Low Anthem, Greg Brown and The Haden Triplets, this epic folk opera retells the Orpheus myth. Mitchell is the 2003 Kerrville Festival New Folk Competition and was nominated in 2008 for a Folk Alliance Award in the category of Contemporary Artist.

The Brilliant Inventions, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, are the winners of the 2009 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist award. They have toured extensively with major groups such as They Might Be Giants and Little Children. 2009 saw the release of their first studio album, Have You Changed.
